Michael Moorer Jr. is an African American creative, and data scientist whose research intersects race, social justice, coding, and big data whose grass roots originates from Birmingham, Alabama, USA.
Michael earned his B.S. degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from Berea College and a Masters degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University where his research focuses on computation and society. Michael is currently a Senior Systems Software Egineer at Intel residing in Oakland CA
Michael’s ultimate goal is to produce technology that recognizes and affirms the obvious diversity within the human family. Greater awareness of ‘our’ diversity must be better reflected within developing technologies. He plans to reshape the lenses of technology in the fight to reflect a richer portrait of humanity.
Beyond that, Michael imagines himself fostering an initiative that focuses on people of color in highlighting a community often excluded. He also hopes to travel, innovate, and create.
